JLPT Preparation Classes

The Japanese Language Proficiency Test (JLPT) is the most recognized Japanese language exam globally. It is run by the Japan Foundation and is widely used for university admissions, work permits, and scholarship eligibility.

 

JLPT Test Levels and Requirements

JLPT is divided into five levels, from N5 (beginner) to N1 (advanced):

  • N5: Basic sentence structures and vocabulary.
  • N4: Familiarity with daily Japanese phrases and short reading passages.
  • N3: Intermediate level, required by some vocational colleges.
  • N2: Proficiency in academic and workplace Japanese. Commonly required for universities.
  • N1: Near-native understanding of complex Japanese.
     

Minimum JLPT Requirement for Studying in Japan

  • For most undergraduate and diploma programs: N2 or above
  • For Japanese language schools: N5 or N4 is acceptable

JLPT N5 Test Preparation

Designed for learners with no prior Japanese background. You’ll learn hiragana, katakana, ~120–150 kanji, and around 800–1,000 basic words. The course builds foundational grammar for daily conversation and simple reading.

 

Learning Outcomes

By the end of JLPT N5 course, students will be able to:

  • Read/write all Japanese kana and ~120 kanji  
  • Use essential grammar (particles, present‑past forms) 
  • Comprehend/listen to simple dialogs (self-introductions, directions, time) 
  • Recognize 800–1,000 words (numbers, family, shopping)

  • Kana drills: Master all hiragana and katakana

  • Grammar core: Basic sentence structures (XはYです、~がほしい、~がいます)

JLPT N4 Test Preparation

Builds on N5 foundations to expand learners’ vocabulary (~1,500 words), grammar points (~50–60 new structures), and kanji (~300 total). Perfect for daily life, travel, and further study.

By the end of JLPT N5 course, students will be able to:

  • Read 300 kanji commonly seen in signs, menus, and messages
  • Master intermediate grammar: conditionals, keigo basics
  • Use vocabulary on daily routines, school, travel, feelings (~1,500 words)
  • Understand/listen to routine conversations and intermediate texts
  • Be able to read and convey time and date (年, 月, 日, 時), nature and weather (雨, 雪, 山, 川), directions and places (東, 西, 南, 北, 駅, 学校), People and relationships (父, 母, 友, 先生, 会)

  • Grammar:
    • Politeness contrasts (plain vs polite form)
    • Nouns (e.g., 駅 – station, 学校 – school)
    • Basic verbs (食, 飲, 行, 来, 見, 聞)
    • Adjectives (e.g., うるさい – noisy, 楽しい – fun)
    • Points like  ~たい (want to), ~つもり (intend to), ~ながら (while doing), etc.
  • Vocabulary & kanji: 1,500 words, 300 kanji with compounds
